The University Hospital of Würzburg is one of Germany’s leading academic medical centers, located in the city of Würzburg, Bavaria. It serves as the teaching hospital for the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg and is the only supramaximal care hospital in the Lower Franconia region. The hospital comprises 19 clinics with associated polyclinics, three autonomous polyclinics, and four clinical institutes, offering comprehensive medical services across various specialties. It houses the Comprehensive Heart Failure Center (CHFC), a pioneering institution fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in HF management.

Stefan Stoerk, MD

Stefan Störk is a specialist in internal medicine and cardiology, heading the Department of Clinical Research and Epidemiology of Heart Failure at the German Center for Heart Failure (DZHI), where he also holds a Research Professorship. He is additionally the Scientific Director of the Heart Failure Competence Network, Germany. His expertise encompasses heart failure disease management, circulatory disorders of the heart, cardiac imaging, and the prevention and care of chronic heart failure.

Anna Frey, MD, MME

Leader of the CRC project A2

PD Dr. Anna Frey graduated in Medicine from Hannover Medical School and contributed to the early development of the Comprehensive Heart Failure Würzburg while initiating research on heart-brain interaction and myocardial infarction. Currently, she leads translational immunological studies in the DFG-funded CRC 1525 . Clinically, she specializes in Cardiology, Intensive and Emergency Care at the University Hospital and has secured multiple research grants. Since January 2025 she overtook the leadership of the Department of Intensive and Emergency medicine at the University Hospital of Würzburg.
