Prof. Nicola Francesco Lopomo, PhD

Associate Professor

Nicola Francesco Lopomo holds degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Bioengineering from Politecnico di Milano. He researched Computer-Aided Surgery and biomechanics at IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli (2004-2015). From 2015-2024, he was an Associate Professor at the University of Brescia, focusing on sensors and wearable technology in clinical applications. In 2022, he co-founded the "smart objects" start-up inXense s.r.l. Since 2024, he has been a faculty member at Politecnico di Milano - Department of Design. He has authored over 180 international journal articles and participated in numerous personal health technology projects.

Prof. Giuseppe Andreoni, PhD

Full Professor

Giuseppe Andreoni is a Full Professor at Politecnico di Milano - Department of Design, directing the TeDH Group and Sensibilab (Lecco Campus) Laboratory. His multidisciplinary expertise integrates design, biomedical technologies, ergonomics, digital human modeling, and user-centered design. His research focuses on innovative healthcare and well-being solutions, including wearable sensors and assistive technologies, developed through co-design and ergonomics. He coordinates and participates in numerous research programs and is a co-author of over 300 publications and 13 patents.

Prof. Paolo Perego, PhD

Research Fellow

Paolo Perego earned his Biomedical Engineering master's from Politecnico di Milano (2008) and a Design PhD (2014) focused on wearable monitoring systems for vulnerable users. During his PhD, he was a Visiting Scholar at SUPSI, researching human-computer interaction for disabled individuals. Since 2008, he has been with Politecnico di Milano's Design Department, currently as a Tenure Track Researcher. His research interests include the Internet of Medical Things, wearable devices, and Interaction Design. He has contributed to European projects like PegasoF4F and Nestore and co-authored over 100 publications. His expertise spans wearable systems, textile sensors, smart materials, and UX design. He is a member of EAI and IEEE.

Prof. Carlo Emilio Standoli, PhD

PhD

Carlo Emilio Standoli is PhD in Design and Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Design. His focus lies on user experience observed through physical and digital artefacts and on the role of technology and its integration into everyday life, focusing on healthcare processes in the passage from the hospital to the in-home context. He is interested in the design translation to make technology accessible and acceptable for users and caregivers.

Dr. Carla Dei

PhD student

Carla Dei is a PhD student at Politecnico of Milan and, since 2021, has been working as a Product and UX Designer at Scientific Institute E. Medea, in Bosisio Parini (Lecco). Her research focuses on co-design tools and methodologies to foster the inclusion of individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities in the design process. She is also interested in UX analysis in clinical contexts and in various types of human-machine interaction.
