Associate Professor

He obtained a degree in Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in Bioengineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2003 and 2008, respectively. From 2004 to 2015, he worked at the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, conducting research in Computer-Aided Surgery, clinical biomechanics, and biomaterials. From 2015 to 2024, he was an Associate Professor of Bioengineering at the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Brescia, where he taught in undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering and medicine, focusing his research on the application of technologies in the clinical field. In 2022, together with three colleagues, he founded inXense s.r.l., an innovative start-up dedicated to the development of "smart objects". Since 2024, he has been a faculty member at the Department of Design at Politecnico di Milano. He is the author of over 160 articles published in international journals and has been involved in several national and international projects aimed at designing, developing, and validating innovative technologies and methodologies in the field of personal health.

Prof. Giuseppe Andreoni, PhD

Associate Professor

He is currently Associate Professor at the Department of Design of Politecnico di Milano where he is the Director of the Laboratory “Technology and Design for Healthcare (TeDH)”, and professor at the School of Design. In the Department of Design, he is also the Responsible of the Sensibilab Research Laboratory (Biomedical Sensors and Systems) located at the Lecco Campus and of the LyPhE Research Laboratory (Laboratory of Physical Ergonomics) located at the Bovisa Campus of Politecnico di Milano, now both integrated in the TeDH Research Laboratory of the same Department. Since 1 April 2017 he is also associated at the Institute of Molecular Bioimaging and Physiology (IBFM) of the National Research Council.

Prof. Paolo Perego, PhD

Research Fellow

Paolo Perego earned his Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2008, followed by a PhD in Design from the same university in 2014. Since 2008, he has worked at the Department of Design at the Politecnico di Milano, where he currently serves as a researcher. His research focuses on Human-Machine Interfaces for health and well-being, particularly in the areas of wearable systems, textile sensors, smart materials, and UX design. He is the co-author of over 70 articles and contributions to international conferences. In 2012, he was a Visiting PhD student at the DTI department of SUPSI (Lugano, Switzerland), where he was involved in research on human-computer interaction for people with disabilities. He is a member of EAI and chaired the Mobihealth conference in 2016 and 2017. He is co-editor of three books on wearable devices and Guest Editor of several special issues on smart materials and wearable devices. He is a member of IEEE, GNB (Italian National Bioengineering Group), SDI (Italian Design Society), and IDXBerlin (Interaction Design Berlin). In 2017, with the wearable system Swimfit, a smart sensorized swimsuit, he received an award as part of Switch2Product, a competition for innovative solutions, new technologies, and business ideas.

Prof. Carlo Emilio Standoli, PhD

Research Fellow

Carlo Emilio Standoli is PhD in Design and Assistant Professor at Politecnico di Milano, Department of Design. His focus lies on user experience observed through physical and digital artefacts and on the role of technology and its integration into everyday life, focusing on healthcare processes in the passage from the hospital to the in-home context. He is interested in the design translation to make technology accessible and acceptable for users and caregivers.

Dr. Carla Dei

PhD student

Carla Dei is a PhD student at Politecnico of Milan and, since 2021, has been working as a Product and UX Designer at Scientific Institute E. Medea, in Bosisio Parini (Lecco). Her research focuses on co-design tools and methodologies to foster the inclusion of individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities in the design process. She is also interested in UX analysis in clinical contexts and in various types of human-machine interaction.
