Launch of the DORIAN GRAY Public Involvement Board

28 May 2025

We are pleased to announce the launch of the DORIAN GRAY Public Involvement Board (DORIAN GRAY-PIB), a key initiative aimed at fostering community involvement and collaboration in our research efforts.

The DORIAN GRAY project kicked off in January 2025 aiming at uncovering the mechanisms bridging Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and cardiovascular disease. Both events are increasingly prevalent and, more interestingly, it has been estimated that one-third of the people with cardiovascular disease also experience some degree of cognitive impairment.

To support meaningful Public Involvement,
Alzheimer Europe (AE) has set up the DORIAN GRAY-PIB at the beginning of 2025. In partnership with the project partners, AE will conduct Public Involvement activities ensuring that all the patient-facing interfaces and applications of the study are accessible, understandable and appealing enough for future end-users.

The DORIAN GRAY-PIB is currently composed of a diverse group of 13 people from 9 different countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Spain and UK. This diversity is also reflected in their lived experiences, with people with vascular cognitive impairment, Lewy Body dementia, subjective cognitive decline, MCI due to Alzheimer’s disease, heart failure and cognitively healthy people who also care for or support a loved one with dementia or heart failure.

Alzheimer Europe and the project partners are looking forward to starting working with the DORIAN GRAY-PIB and the fruitful discussions with its members. Their contributions will be essential for the research activities conducted by the consortium.

Stay tuned for updates as we begin our first consultations with the DORIAN GRAY-PIB in June
